THE MOUNT PLEASANT FOUNDATION

Nicholas and Shelley Schorsch created the Mount Pleasant Foundation in order to preserve, support and share the rich historical resources of Mount Pleasant with the general public and researchers, through this website, articles and tours.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable corporation whose purpose is stated according to Chapter 10 of Title 13.1 of the Code of Virginia, for:

“charitable, educational and scientific purposes”… “to foster and promote the preservation and conservation of the Mount Pleasant property…and its natural environment, conduct and support educational and research activities relating to the preservation, conservation and historical understanding of Mount Pleasant, engage in other activities relating to the historical significance of Mount Pleasant and its role in the history of the United States and Virginia, and conduct and support general education programs relating to the history and natural environment of the United States and Virginia.”
